Oh. My. Gosh guys. If you aren’t aware by my Instagram already, I am obsessed with smoothie bowls. I repeat, OBSESSED (In a healthy way I can assure you.) They are for one, so bloody delicious! And for two, nourishing and wholesome. Packed with so many healthy vitamins and minerals, you literally can’t go wrong.
Now, as it’s coming into the cooler weathers, I try and hold onto these for as long as my body can handle. Wrapping myself up in a blanket as my shivering body tries to eat breakfast! But seriously, for summer these are the BOMB dig. I made a promise to myself when I first started making smoothie bowls that I wouldn’t give up. I was going to master the right consistency. It is all about consistency… And the toppings!
When I make mine, I prefer to use 2 medium to large frozen banana’s. I find that when I use 2 it blends so much better and let me tell you, it’s so satisfying. Making smoothie bowls used to really test my patients because for me, they would never blend. It used to give me the shits. Or maybe it was just my blender. I am currently waiting for the day I can afford to buy a Vitamix. Using a stick thingy to mix and mash it around whilst it’s blending is a life saver. I suggest you go buy one if you haven’t already. And when you do, be sure to please let me know what that stick thingy is called.
For the base of a smoothie bowl you want to use frozen bananas. Not only is banana seriously yummy but it just goes with everything when you make smoothies/smoothie bowls AND it’s a creamy consistency, perfecto. You also want to use a nut milk of choice. As little as possible. Try about 1/4 cup and go from there. My two main go to powders are Tropeaka, and Unicorn Superfoods. These are so gooooood. With natural, organic, wholesome ingredients and completely free of nasties. And of course, vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free. Doesn’t get much better. When using protein powders and superfoods you want to always look at the ingredients to make sure they are good quality and pure.
So for this blue bad boy I used:
🍌2 frozen bananas
🍌1/2 cup frozen mango
🍌1/4 cup almond milk, slowly add more IF needed.
🍌1 scoop Tropeaka Vanilla Lean protein powder
🍌1 tsp Unicorn Superfoods ocean blend
🍌Whatever toppings your heart desires… Or your belly.
Feel free to add whatever you want in them. And that goes for whatever veggies you want to hide into them as well. It’s a great trick. Mwhahaha.
